my favourite albums of 2008: (not in order, that’s too hard, keep in mind that there are quite a few records from ‘08 that I haven’t given a good hard listen to yet, so this could always change…)

Parc Avenue – Plants & AnimalsĀ  (Bye Bye Bye)

Noah & the Whale – Noah & The Whale (Jocasta)

The Midnight Organ Fight - Frightened Rabbit (Heads Roll Off)

Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes (Blue Ridge Mountains)

Soft Airplane - Chad VanGaalen (Willow Tree)

Carried to Dust – Calexico (Two Silver Trees)

Red Yellow and Blue - Born Ruffians (Little Garcon)

Others: Wolf Parade, Winter Gloves, TV on the Radio, Sebastien Grainger, m83, Deerhunter, The Dears, Cut Copy, Black Mountain … just because I may not have listened to these fully yet…

my first assignment for digital media was to create a 5s animated station idea for MTV, or ‘art break’ as MTV likes to call them. mine wasn’t one of the 5 chosen to be shown on air for two days, but it was one to be put on their website (and also a screencap of mine is at the top!), pretty cool

Looks like Claymation, yes?

Wrong! It’s all done in Maya (software program). Very neat.

I bought this at a super cheap second hand store during the kitchener adventure, a little lamp/clock/radio combo. The radio sorta works, the clock doesnt seem to, and the lamp could with a new bulb perhaps. Whatever, it’s so cute, hah, and only 75 CENTS. Oh ya.

Kind of reminds me of:

bargain times

In order for one to find good stuff at second hand stores, one must venture outside of Toronto, where stylin people know whats up. Amy and I recently ventured to her homeland of Kitchener to visit the thrift stores. We got two bags a piece at value village, talize and some Mennonite store, and later noticed that they go extremely well together and have a very matching color scheme:

All were between $2 and $8, a bargain I must say. I own the two front beauties. The larger one being my fave. The brown one is sheet music chic. I’d like to think these would be snatched up within seconds of doors opening in TO stores, so little town of Kitchener was quite a success.

More bargains from Kitchener (maybe Huntsville too) to come…
